Unfortunately, I can’t get into this as I respect copyright matters. I hope you have got above mentioned files (if not google it). Now add both of your ASA5520 version 8.4(2) files as shown below. After selecting Qemu, look for ASA tab at the top and click it. Once your GNS3 has been installed, go to Edit>Preferences and then select Qemu (kind of Hypervisor). Now let’s start this simple task by installing GNS3 on your Ubuntu machine. One file of ASDM 6.4(9) which is named asdm-641.bin (or asdm-649.bin) Two files of ASA5520 version 8.4(2) which are asa842-initrd.gz and asa842-vmlinuz GNS3 version 0.8.7 or later (free to download from their website and easy to install) This is an interesting exercise and it requires the following software/files As per Cisco website, ASA5520 is history now but without getting into vendor’s matters, it is wonderful for students/learners to try their hands over it and learn its excellent features using GNS3. Our task is to operate ASA using ASDM on a single laptop or PC running Ubuntu with the help of lovely simulator (partially emulator) GNS3. I just horribly summarized the roles of ASA and ASDM in above two lines □ ASDM graphical interface makes easier to configure and operate ASA. Very briefly, ASA5520 (Adaptive Security Appliance) is a Cisco firewall (actually much more than a firewall having IDS, IPS, VPN and many other capabilities) and ASDM is GUI based management software.
